This article is for those who replaced the TPMS sensor in their tires of Chevy HHR (2008 – 2009) (2011), but did not know how to relearn it without a key fob. I updated the following procedure for TPMS Relearn with GM TECH2 & KEY FOB METHOD
1.HHR (2008 – 2009) (2011) TPMS Reset with GM TECH2
Connect the GM Tech 2 scan tool
Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF
Power On the Scan Tool
Hit Enter
Main Menu > F0: DIAGNOSTICS
Vehicle identification – Model Year > (6) 2006
Vehicle identification – Product Type > Passenger Car
Vehicle identification – Product Make > (1) Chevrolet
Vehicle identification – Product Line > A
Diagnostics > F1: Body
- (Establishing Communication)
Body> F5: Remote Control Door Lock Receiver
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver > F5: Module Setup
Module Setup > F4: TPMS Learn Mode
- (Establishing Communication)
LEARN
- (Horn Chirps Twice)
2.HHR (2008 – 2009) (2011) TPMS Reset Procedure(KEY FOB METHOD)
1). Apply parking brake. Turn ignition to ON position (engine off)
2). Press and hold unlock and lock buttons on the keyless entry transmitter until horn sounds, and then LF turn signal will become illuminated.
3). Starting with LF tire, increase/decrease tire pressure until horn sounds.
4). After horn sounds proceed as in step 3 for the next 3 sensors in the following order: RF RR LR After completing LR tire horn will sound twice.
5). Turn ignition to OFF position to exit vehicle learn mode. Adjust all tires to pressure listed on the placard.
Note:
Another thing about TPMS relearn, for either method, if you don’t have the EL-50448 tool, get one!! It sure makes the entire process easier and way faster. You do not have to let air out of the tires, just hold this tool against tire wall next to TPMS and it recognizes it in 2-5 seconds, horn chirps, move to the next. This tool can be found on uobdii.com for less than $15.
Enjoy!
