Tips on reading 93s66 with VVDI PRO and EEPROM adapter

I’ve got problem with reading 93s66. When I use VVDI PRO and EEprom adapter reading is all FF. When trying with EEprom clip adapter then all is 00. With clip i don’t use probe. I don’t know how to use it. It’s from E46 and E39 dashboard. 93c46 from E36 was ok with clip.
Is it necessary to choose right producer of the chip or only type of memory?

Advice:

this is a operator error and not the device.
to start with that you have mounted the eprom wrong on the board!

 

Do you see the little white dot on the PCB?
And do you see the little dent on the EEPROM?
Ok, now put the EEPROM so that both marks are together.

B58608 EEPROM 93C66. Turn the eeprom 180 degrees.

Two more notes – yes, make sure you have chosen the correct EEPROM manufacturer from the VVDI menu. It may not be important for other programmers like UPA but for this one it matters!
And make sure you have removed the correct EEPROM from the IMMO!

Why vvdi prog + Xprog is needed for a beginner?

If you are a beginner of VVDI Pro, you don’t need the adapters, if you need to read eeproms, get a second programmer like Xprog 5.55.

 

Why another programmer? Is not good with eep?

Xprog is cheaper then a vvdiprog adapter.
vvdi prog is good for reading proccesors.
Some have had problems reading eeproms.
This might be solved now that there is a adapter.

If your vvdiprog fails, at any reading or programming, you will have a backup.
It also helps as a confirmation to solve some reading writing problems.

All my collegues have at least few laptops, w7 32 w7 64 and xp.
And xprog, upa, tl866, willem, orange5

Xprog, is a great tool, and comes with many adapters.

Some even sell a xprog clamp adapter, to make i even more handy to use.

1.Solder the 35XX chip on the meter to the specified location of the simulator,pay attention to the chip direction.

2.Plug the emulator to the Mini usb cable, then plug into the usb port of computer.

3.Create a new folder on your desktop, for example, named “mileage modification.”

4.Copy the compressed file “35xx mileage modification tool .rar” and paste it on the desktop “mileage modification” folder.

Extract it to the current folder to get the file of “35xx mileage modification tool .exe”

5.Copy the original data to the “mileage modification” folder on the desktop .

According to the original car chip model, select the corresponding original data and copy it to the “mileage modification” folder on the desktop.

(If the original car chip is 35080, choose 35080 raw data.bin; if the original car chip is 35160, choose 35160 raw data. bin)

6.Open the “mileage modification” folder, drag the original data to the modification tool or double-click to open the “35XX mileage modification tool”, drag the original data into the tool interface and press Enter to confirm.

7.Enter the mileage data you want to modify as prompted (Note: don’t forget to input the unit, for example: XXXkm or XXXmi), then press Enter to confirm, and the new file 35xxx raw data _yyyy.bin will be automatically generated.

8.Open the “35XX Memory” USB flash drive, delete the 35xxx simulated data  .bin file of the corresponding chip (note the “simulated” data file), and then copy the 35xxx original data _yyyy.bin file generated in the “mileage modification” folder to the “35XX memory” U disk.

9.Data comparison

Re-plug the simulator, open the “35XX memory” U disk.

Compare the newly generated simulated data of the corresponding chip and the modified data in the “mileage modification” folder. If the data is the same, the operation is successful. Solder the simulator to the instrument chip location.

Tip: The copied raw data.bin file is recommended to be saved to the computer, so that the data can be recovered when the operation is wrong. If the operation is abnormal, don’t be nervous. Unplug the usb and plug it back to restore normal.

How to use MicroPod 2 to get Enhanced DRB III Emulator to work?

These are the steps I followed to use MicroPod 2 Clone to get Enhanced DRB III Emulator to work:

Option 1: Bought MicroPod 2 from one Chinese Seller:
1: Make a backup copy of the partition from the hard drive included with the micropod!
2: Install HDD in laptop
3: Set date to 01/01/17 BEFORE booting from laptop
4: Boot to HDD
5: Allow windows to install drivers, etc, as needed for your laptop and reboot as needed.
6: Once all of that is done, do NOT run WiTech yet!
7: Turn OFF internet!
8: Navigate to C:\ProgramData\wiTECH\jserver\data\core\stubs
9: Install DRB Emulator stub
10: Install DRB Enhanced emulator stub
11: Install K-Line stub
12: Reboot computer
13: Set date back to current date
14: ALLOW internet access
15: Run Flexnet software updater. Do NOT update WiTech!!!
16: Flexnet will find updates for enhanced DRB and K-Line
17: Install K-Line update first
18: Install Enhanced update next.
19: Turn date back to 01/01/17!
20: Once updates and downloaded and installed, turn OFF internet and NEVER turn on again!
21: Reboot computer
22: Attach Micropod to car. When green LED turns on, turn on car ignition
23: Attach USB cable to PC and Micropod
24: When Windows is done installing drivers, etc, you should show a network connection in the tool tray with no internet access
25: Run Wi-Tech
26: Press “Launch DRB III” button in lower right hand corner
27: Accept EULA
28: DRB Emulator will launch.
29: Enjoy.

I bought my micropod from the same seller Radius bought his from. It came with a hard drive that is barely working. Its making beeping sounds and clicking and on its very last legs. I was able to make a backup though and there is actually a second partition on it with an Acronis backup image already created from 8/15/17. Anyway I will have to contact the seller and arrange for some discount since the hard drive is virtually useless.

Anyway, the main thing is that the miocropod had the required circuits etc, and the DRB3 works after following most of Radius’s instructions. I had to change it up since I did follow his instructions exactly, but the flexnet update didn’t work, and so it failed and te drb3 did not work.

In order to get it to work, I had to change the date. In the beginning when installing the stubs, his directions had already instructed you to change the date to 1/1/17, then navigate to the folder and install the three stubs. Reboot. Try to use flexnet connect to update but it failed. Windows update also errored because of the wrong date. So I changed the date to the correct date. Now flexnet connect worked and I was able to update K-line and enhanced drb3. As soon as both had updated, I disconnected internet and then changed date back to 1/1/17. Then I followed the rest of the instructions. Plugged in the pod, waited for windows to see it and make the virtual network, and then launched witech. Launched enhanced drb3. Success!! It works!!

So the instructions are good, but at least for me, I had to fix the date to the correct date to get the flexnet updates. Once updated, disconnect the internet and change the date back to 1/1/17 for it to work.

Solution:

1.First,you need to check the serial number of OBDSTAR X300 DP PAD main unit and VCI box.Make sure the serial numbers are same.

2.If they are same,restart the main unit,then re-build connection between X300 DP PAD and VCI box.

 

3.If you perform the operation 2,but it still prompt the same error massage,you need to reset VCI box.

One user experience published on 21th-September-2018:

BMW E65 745i 2002 :

Sympton : error 2737 EWS anti-tampering.

Solution: FVDI BMW – Special functions, Sync DME-CAS

Result: OK, done quickly, first car cranks only then stop, 2nd start car fires up !

 

Opel Astra H 1.7 CDTi 2012 :

Key learning and pin reading

Special functions: Read pin > select Opel / Astra H / Info display : reads correct pin

Key learning : select Opel / Astra H > Connect immo > read fine, insert new key, Select next empty position, then Program transponder and remote and write pin. Procedure ask ignition off, than ignition on, done.

Car fires up with new key, after remote also work!

Result : OK !

 

One user experience published on 6th-August-2018:

1st.: Audi A4 B7 ‘2005 3.0L V6TDI:
Getting the SKC -> Simple job, Key learning -> Ignition ON -> Auto detect. Some minutes later PIN appear.
Nowhere mentioned, so I write here:
to learn new key, need to prepare a VIRGIN Megamos ID48 transponder after Auto detect the pin.
After PIN appears, also appear a button : Prepare Dealer key.
Need prepare the transponder with this function, actually read details from immobilizer to prepare the transponder for the car, and also send the Dash to BOOT mode with virginized key slots.
( This moment a bit paniced, since dash says L0 3-3 insted of km, and car not able to start with any key. 3-3 means 3/3 key learn, L0 is the immobilizer status… half an hour googling and already know whats happening. )
So now got prepared transponder, and dash in boot mode -> I used wizzard mode of key learning. Function detect the vehicle, then automaticaly select the proper lines, just need click Next button.
Next menu, ask the number of keys. Simple set the number of avaliable keys. The program follows the whole learning procedure, well commented with message boxes, ask step-by-step key->igniton->nextkey->ignition. During whole procedure, dash should show L7 x-y. L7 means immo status 7 -> key programming, x means actual key number, y means total number of keys.
After all keys programmed, should see L0 x-x where x the number of keys. This state is almost the same as at the begining, car wont start. I mentioned L0 means immo status. Need to put it to adapted mode.
Choose Instument K-Line -> since this car had R8 crypto+ dask, choose this type at the top rolldown list. Press Read button. After read it shows the eeprom content, km, skc, and immo status also!
At immo status this time is 0. This value need to set 6 then press “Change”. After done dash restart and km appears again.
Finally: Keys programmed, working well, starts the car.
Used to program remotes with the Remote programming special function. Was simple, set remote memory positon, press learn, program ask press LOCK button, after press LOCK automatically sotred, working fine.

2nd: BMW E61 with CAS3 (0L01Y) :
This time need to report a bug, hope could fix it in the future.
Since the car had CAS3 this was a brand new experience for me.
Sadly not tried to read out by OBD, but R270 solved the READ/WRITE procedure since the board was not look like the same as in the BDM software’s picture help… but the only diff was not so much, only 2 pins (coaxial to timing crystal) needed to solder as the same as CAS2, not as the picture, but that is an other thread….
So dump successfully read. After load dump to FVDI Key Tool, everything look fine, select new key slot to prepare, prepare done, but after saving the write back dump, it was an empty 4k bin file, so there must be something wrong with Key Tool software since 3/3 time after prepare the saved dump is only contains full of zeroes in a 4k bin file. Since know this is not a working dump, tried to find another way. So lucky had an own developed CAS editor, so modified the dump with that, but after write back key did not start the car, so on, the car said it is an unknown key. After that was clear, the FVDI key tool’s bug maybe at key preparing for CAS3, and looks like key preparation is also failed. Did not want to remove CAS again, so renewed the key with VVDI Key Tool, and after that again prepared with FVDI Key Tool software but this time choosed CAS2 (should use new virgin key, or renew the badly locked one). Loaded dump like CAS2, prepared key. Since CAS already contains the key id, and with CAS2 option the FVDI prepare well the key, this time everything worked fine, but would be nice to fix this! Remove CAS3 option, and edit CAS2 line to CAS2/3 or fix the CAS3 key prep fail and dump preparaion fail.
Two times started the engine with new key and after that remote worked also fine, but summary, needed to prepare key with FVDI key tool and choose CAS2! insted of CAS3 and also needed to modify the CAS3 dump before write back with other program ( CAS2 modification would work, my program says okay for that modified dump also, and I think no difference between CAS2 and CAS3 at key’s values addressing. )

Hope these also would help others. The Audi took almost 2,5hour, with this experiecen, would take 25min now…

– Remote not working, but it is probably key’s fault.

Read SKC – OK – auto detection under key learning special function

KeyLearning – OK -> job is done, car starts with new key. ( All working keys need diring the procedure )

 

BMW E61 530xd – MY2006

CAS reading : Could not do via OBD port -> Error message talks about security issue.

Read CAS via BDM (R270), after got dump used FVDI TAG and Keytool to prepare new key.

Write back modified dump to CAS via BDM, after everything was fine. Car starts, remote works fine.

 

 

the FVDI don’t kill BSI, the USER who start a diagnostic session without a battery charger kills the BSI. 

 

Notice 1: What FVDI Benz Can’t Do? 

Don’t do Key Sync for Benz Smart 450 and 451. 

 

About Mileage Correction Function: 

Don’t use FVDI to change mileage for BENZ W212!

FVDI can’t do it, it will reprogram the CGW ( ZGW ) unit automatically, then damage your car.

Don’t use FVDI to change mileage for BENZ Sprinter 906! it possible damge your car dashboard.

 

Notice from a user’s rich experience: 

MY FVDI ABRITES Commander For Mercedes Benz Smart Maybach v6.4  PROBLEMS:

  1. Mercedes Benz w203 2002/2003/2004 does not change the mileage but only resets the odometer and all lights turn on and nothing works until disconnect/reconnect battery and then still shows old mileage. (no Damage)

    2. Mercedes Benz w203 1999/2000/2001 problem which does change the mileage but shows the new mileage for only few seconds and changes back to old mileage although i set to block EZS.  (no Damage)

    3. Mercedes Benz w203 1999/2000/2001/2002/2003/2004 does not change mileage via CAN cable (out of the car)  (no Damage)

  2. Mercedes Benz w220 2002 does not change the mileage at all although it says mileage change successfully. Still shows old value. (no Damage)

    5. Mercedes Benz sprinter w906 diesel 2009 problem which does change the mileage but shows
    “——-” lines in the odometer after few seconds and cannot block EZS synchronization or synchronize EZS/EIS. (HAD TO REPLACE ODOMETER)

    6. Mercedes Benz w245 after year 2004 problem which does change the mileage but rolls back and shows old mileage on the odometer. Does not give the option to block EZS synchronization. (no Damage)

  3. Mercedes Benz W639 VITO 2007 problem which does not change the mileage at all although and the whole odometer went white and did not display anything after setting new mileage. (no Damage)
  4. Mercedes Benz W164 2009 changed the mileage to new one but then it rolled back to old. After three attempts, it damaged the rear SAM of the car.    Damages: Needed to replace Rear SAM.
  5. Mercedes Benz w204 2008, which does not change the mileage and does not read EZS at all. After few tries did change the mileage and blocked EZS but lost communication via obd2 and damaged ZGW.

Damages on W204 – needed to Reprogram ZGW of with SCN coding at authorized BENZ dealer.  over cost 800 usd

Notice 3:  What FVDI Opel can’t do?

1) cannot read/write eprom of OPEL Delco z14xe engine ECU.

2) cannot read/write Astra H airbag ecu and can’t fix crashdata.

3) Cannot do Mileage Correction for Corsa D via OBD. Corsa D is 35080. Not possible by OBD. best way is to remove eeprom read it erase and program with new values.

 

Notice 4:  What FVDI PSA can’t do?

Whatever we suggest you not to try FVDI on Johnson BSI, from time to time, we hear people damage this ECU by FVDI, better for you to use another more safe tool for this Johnson BSI.

Some FVDI PSA users warn others: FVDI kills Johnson control BSI.

Exactly, BSI is not kill,it is in boot mode but car is in economy mode, put BSI in car but star other car and connect +and- in car for read BSI is work 100%.

To explain better my procedure: no problem when you read BSI connected other car will start on the battery of the vehicle you read BSI because the proceed is not fast and your vehicle goes into economy mod then your BSI remains in boot mod and does not want to start your car if you happen redone a reading of your BSI and finally exit the boot mod reading and more concern, especially connect another car started on the battery of the vehicle to read.

You could understand like this: the BSI goes in economy/boot mode because the procedure takes much time – I have to connect another car to the battery of the non-starting car, start the donor-car and then I will be able to connect to the “dead” BSI and revive it by switching off the economy/boot mode.

3: Let ignition stays on and take out original cluster and put spare cluster to car, write immo data, eeprom and recalibrate mileage.
4: Now you can reset cluster and the magic have happend.
5: Turn off ignition and wait 30secound, now you can fire up car.

Remove the transmission control unit from vehicle.

Open the CGDI MB software,select “Auto Computer”,and select “TCU”

Actually there is a software version x100 pad2 for brazil
In this version it is possible to make programming of the new renault 2015+ only with internet connection. Brazilian cars is different story. There must be some difference between them and European cars. Same as VAG, many of new VAG UDS got only MM dash which can be done without working key via OBD and CAN-BUS system many of doesn’t need precoding by CS, just standard CAN bus make precode.

KESS V2 V5.017 is a ECU programming tool that is perfect for OBD use, while KTag

V7.020 is perfect for Jtag, BDM and all the Boot application (tricore and ST10).
With KESS V2 V5.017 you programming directly through the OBD port of the vehicle, while with Ktag V7.020 you need to take apart the ECU and open it, after you can make the read/write operation.

Ktag v7.020 review:

I try with edc16c31 smart 451, read write in bdm ok with ktag, read write ok in obd with kess.

 

I tested with a lot of edc17 in these day and read and write without problem.

 

I made a video with a edc17c50 bmw 120d f21 with gpt, read and write ok.
I have a fiat edc17c69 virgin (without software inside), this I can’t read.

 

My Ktag 7.020 is able to read and write EDC17C69

 

7.020 version runs faster and more stable.

 

Ktag 7.02 good working. no problem.

 

Ktag master 7.020 displays diagrams via words, not pictures. It’s better to understand0

 

I tried to read Bosch edc17c69 gpt Fiat 500X and not working, with ktag ori read and write ok.

 

I read a lot of edc17 and few edc17 with gpt and all read and write ok maybe there is a bug in sw/fw from alientech.

I compared 7.020 with my old 7.003. KTAG fw 7.020 adds 100+ ECU types and supports new car models e.g. Toyota 76FXXX, PSA 17.4.4, Ford E83, VW 17.5.5 (1766), Mercedes-Benz 276 ECU, Toyota 76F, etc. It should be a good budget i think.

The clone Ktag 7.020 can read my 2013 Opel Insignia EDC17C59

CGDI BMW Feedback 1:

1.11-02-2018 update

CGDI works good CAS2 takes 2min CAS3 most of the time Downgrade 10-15min, no solderind all via OBD, as for INS i think it can only do 8HP i have not tried it, but i tried to read the INS from CAS3 and it did no problem.

 

2.10-10-2018 update

I just got the CGDI for BMW based on reading good reviews for their Mercedes tool. Have not seen much info for the BMW tool so I thought Id give a quick run down from my experience so far with the tool.

For making keys it has worked great. I have made about 7 keys so far all CAS types except CAS4.

I tried to read ISN on 3 cars and failed. I think it may only read ISN from MSV80/85 ecu’s. Will try on the MSV80 soon and will update. All done by OBD.

 

I have BMWExplorer and have used Autohex as well, but if you only need to program keys and your not concerned with ISN for DME swaps, I would buy the CGDI before those tools.

Its supposed to do ISN but the advertising wording can be misleading. It may only be able to read ISN of 2 types of DME. So far thats how its looking. Will contact my vendor to verify and see if there is an update preventing ISN reads.

For the money its worth it just to be able to program the CAS3 keys. It works super fast literally less than 2 minutes beginning to end. Faster than BMWExplorer for sure. I have yet to successfully do FEM key with Explorer so as far as Im concerned it has the same key programming capability as the CGDI.

 

3. 09-17-2017 update

yes i have CGDI BMW …at this time works good ,,,,cas3+ ,,,can read isk code ,,,,and you have to pay more for fem activation but can work ,,,,the best tool for bmw is autohex II but is very expensive than cgdi , cgdi is good option

extremely fast for cas1, 2 & 3

for cas3+ if need downgrade 10 minutes and seems safe, ISN read from DME 10 minutes does not support all DME is down side.
make sure you have proper power on the car

 

2.19-03-2018

cas4 F10 – ok (new key)
cas4+ F10 – ok (new key) isn from org key or dump DME
fem/bdc F31 – ok – reset mileage, change isn, change vin, make keys with oryginal key and with dump from DDE
cas3+ E60- ok , downgrade and make key with isn from org key

Mine CGDI BMW has activated no issues, updates and everything fine. this programmer has been very good and ive never had an issue. i havnt need to contact support yet.

Q1: on CGDI BMW info it says supports bmw key unlock, does that mean i can reuse a old key and reprogram it?

also how safe if downloading for cas3+, i only ran into this issue one time and i did not downgrade as worried mess things up. im curious how well this programmer works.

 

A1: Yes, you can reuse an old key and reprogram it.
and yes it is safe if downgrade for CAS3+.

Q2: how do you unlock the key and reuse did you try this?

A2: there is a button that says unlock key. i tried and worked with aftermarket key, did not try on a original bmw key to unlock(tested on e60 cas2)

 

Q3: Key programming steps for cas4 I have f10

A3: Cas4 can only be done by reading DFlash from Freescale cpu then load into programmer software and generade key. It can no ne done by obd.
You need xprog or vvdi prog to read the dflash.

 

Q4: CGDI BMW need to pay every 6 month subscription same as CGDI Mercedes ?

A4: No

 

Q5: I have cgdi for bmw. Got a key and the cas module. Is there any1 familiar with how to program the key. I want to do bench programming without obd2 I have an obd2 to cas adapter and cgdi but cant communicate with cas unit. Is this even possible?

A5: You could try through a KGM body module or a JBBE junction box.
These modules act as the CAN hub for the car.

  1. How to setup Nissan consult 3 plus v75.20?

First read tips:

  1. Uninstall the firewall, antivirus software.

anti-virus software can flag up Consult 3 plus software as having a virus. This is a false positive and is due to the software containing the application file like .exe. So Before setup the device software, please disable/uninstall anti-virus software or install a more reliable virus scanner!

 

2.Setup the Consult 3 plus V75.20 to the C drive in the “NTFS” format.

 

Here several pieces of simple guide to follow:

  1. Open IE exploer browser to run “Start.html” .
  2. Open folder “C30 License” to run “C3PCheckLicense.exe”.
  3. Run “V80003T_20101215_x32.exe” to enable Bluetooth.
  4. Open folder “ReprogramData” to run “pus_v65.1F.exe”.

Then, Nissan consult 3 plus v75.20 software will work greatly.

  1. How to use Nissan Consult III do ECU programming?

I try to program a new blank engine ECM on a 2013 Nissan Armada. I purchased the software file from Nissan website and one Nissan Consult III. I do not have Consult online synchronized with Assist. At first, I have no idea what folder to put this file in so Consult program will find.

 

I used ners and nissan file extracted to correct folders by itself. used unpack.exe

anyway here you go 6) For CONSULT III plus “Blank” ECU (ECM and non-IK TCM) Programming

 

Note 1: Before using this application, you will need to put the “programming” data file (*.dat) and the

management csv file you received with the download, in the C:\ReproProgramming folder (see screen capture

above under item # 5). Without the programming data and the management csv file in this folder, the C-III plus

application will not identify or display the applicable programming. The C-III plus software will check the part

number of the ECU on the vehicle and display the reprogram to be installed.

NOTE 2: If this is the first time using C-III plus for reprogramming, you may need to make the

C:\ReproProgramming folder. C-III plus does not automatically create the folder

And this solution is for consult 3 plus.

 

If you can’t solve this problem, better buy consult 3 plus+ security card for IMMO AND PROGRAMMING.
